Newspaper column headed Do Fans Want Baseball Team, This Question for Mitchell Supporters of National Game Is Up for Consideration, asking whether Mitchell will have a team this season ahead of a game against Letcher at the college field, noting practically every city and town in South Dakota has a team in the field, that Sioux Falls and Huron pay salaries, recalling that fifteen years ago Mitchell was decidedly on the baseball map with old fans and players like J. E. Wells, William Scallin and Dr. Ray Smith, calling those teams one of the best advertising mediums Mitchell probably ever had, and reporting a 1 to 0 win over Letcher last Sunday.

Newspaper poem headed Play Cat, credited to James Dempsey Bullock, reading Heavy are the hearts in Wilson, bowed each head in shame. Our base ball club is losing almost every game. The rabbit foot long ago has lost its magic power, and the Ouija board no solace gives, in this dark and trying hour. Be still sad heart and cease repining. For every cloud has a silver lining, and every one is good for something, we are sure of that. And while they can't play ball perhaps they can play Cat.

The second, from W. A. McCauley of Auburn, Kansas, says the Kaws is hard to beat as a name but suggests Kaw Chiefs.
